questions

How much does a pet portrait cost?

Hand-painted pet portraits start at $400 CAD for an 8x10 original on archival paper. Larger sizes and extra animals are quoted.

What photos should I send for a pet portrait?

Send three to five clear photos taken in daylight, at your pet's eye level, with the face in focus. Add one or two that show their personality, a favourite pose, or the coat or collar they always wear. Phone photos are fine.

Can you paint more than one pet in a portrait?

Yes. Two or more animals can share one painting, even if they were never photographed together. Each extra pet is added to the quote.

How long does a commission take?

It depends on the size and detail. You'll get a timeline with your quote. If the painting is a gift, tell me the date up front so we can plan around it.

Can a commission be a gift?

Yes, a lot of commissions are gifts: a pet, a first home, a favourite street. Share the deadline when you reach out and I'll tell you honestly whether it's realistic.

Do you paint murals in Toronto?

Yes. I paint murals for homes, cafés and shops in London, Ontario, Toronto and the GTA. Murals start at $1,000 CAD and are quoted by wall.

How is a mural priced?

Mostly by wall size and level of detail, then by surface: indoor or outdoor paint, how much prep the wall needs, and whether a ladder or lift is required. Send a photo of the wall with rough measurements for a quote.

How do I care for an acrylic painting?

Hang it out of direct sunlight and away from heaters and damp rooms. Works on paper last longest framed behind UV-protective glass. Canvases only need a light dusting with a soft, dry brush. Never use water or cleaners on the paint.

What comes with a commission?

Every commission is a one-of-a-kind original, hand-signed and numbered, with a certificate of authenticity.

Can I see more of your work first?

Of course. Walk through the gallery of original paintings or find me on Instagram @humanmink.
